Jeanne G. Marderwald, accomplished seamstress

August 25, 2018

Jeanne G. Marderwald, 92, known to her friends as "Jeanette," of Rehoboth Beach died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018.

Born in Paris, France, March 24, 1926, as a teenager in Paris during the Nazi occupation she developed a tough stubbornness of defiance that would suit her well in life. Her favorite song was "My Way" by Frank Sinatra. She immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1950s and settled in Ohio. She was the mother of two sons, Dr. George Marderwald (deceased in 1980) and Mark “Woody” Marderwald. She moved to Rehoboth Beach in 1982 and set up her new home.

Included in her many talents, Jeanette  was a skilled and accomplished  seamstress. Jeannette was passionate about her bridge club.  She was an avid duplicate bridge player, earning the designation bronze life master. She fell just short of her silver life master status which she so vehemently pursued. She will be missed by many.

Jeannette's  memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 30, at the Metropolitan Community Church, 19369 Plantation Road, Rehoboth Beach, between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m., with lunch afterward. Also in lieu of flowers, Jeannette asked that donations be made to an animal shelter of your choice.
