Jo Ann Lathbury, Beebe retiree

Jo Ann Lathbury, 79, of Laurel, formerly of Lewes, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Sunday, July 2, 2023, at her home.

She was born March 13, 1944, in Dover, daughter of the late Lincoln Ogg and the late Beatrice (Moore) Ogg. Jo Ann graduated from Caesar Rodney High School Class of 1962 and also graduated from Beebe School of Nursing in 1965. After graduating from Beebe School of Nursing, she began her nursing career at Beebe and worked there until her retirement in 2010.  

Jo Ann and her husband loved to go camping and square dancing. Many memories were made around a campsite and also out on the dance floor. Jo Ann was a voracious reader, having a large book collection. She was also known for her mountain of yarn, where she was constantly crocheting blankets that she donated to First Steps Preschool in Lincoln.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick L. Lathbury, in 2020. She is survived by her four children, Cheryl Lockerman and her husband Jerry, Patti Jo Lathbury and her companion Angie Damen, Karen Earp and her husband Wayne, and Brian Lathbury; three sisters, Elaine DeVita, Kathleen Ryan and Lisa Ogg; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.  

Service and burial will be held privately at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Jo Ann’s name to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, bvspca.org.
