John Woinski, excellent mechanic

September 9, 2019

John Woinski, 63, of Lewes was called home by his Maker Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019. He was born Tuesday, Jan. 3, 1956, in Bransk/Bialystok, Poland, son of the late Anthony and Jennie (Kiersnowska) Woinski.

John was a Polish-American patriot, fiercely proud of his honorable service to his country as a U.S. Air Force jet fighter mechanic. Renowned for his skills in painting and auto body craftsmanship, he was a master auto-reconstruction technician who had a passion for anything mechanical and could transform wrecked cars into new ones. He also loved boating, fishing, water sports and water skiing. John was a world-class billiards player, and his infectious personality would light up any room and put a smile on every face in it. Compassionate, humorous and genuine, John treasured every personal relationship and earned the respect of all who knew him. More than anything, he was a loving husband, friend and family man who will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Hedwig Zak; his brother, Richard; and his brother-in-law, Eric Siekierski. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Catherine (Young) Woinski of Lewes; his daughters: Kelly Graber-McNeill and Lindsay Hall Woinski Hough; his sisters: Irene Siekierski and Mary Kowalski (Lech); and his sister-in-law, Catherine (Gebura) Woinski.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Sept. 13, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Lane, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be private.  Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

The family would like to thank all the staff, doctors, nurses at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes for their excellent care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in John’s memory to a veterans support organization or the SPCA.
