Joseph A. Lofink, USPS retiree

Joseph "Joe” A. Lofink, 78, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes after battling leukemia. He was born April 29, 1944, in Wilmington, son of the late Willard and Anne (Donohue) Lofink.

Joe graduated from Salesianum High School in Wilmington. He proudly served in the Marine Corps Reserve. Joe married the love of his life, Joan Lofink, Feb. 4, 1967, in Wilmington, and together they enjoyed 55 years of marriage. He built a lifelong career with the USPS working as a postal clerk, retiring after many dedicated years.

Joe had many interests and hobbies. He loved fishing and golfing, and was a sports enthusiast. Above all, Joe treasured time spent with those who meant the most to him. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life, and he was fondly called "Pop Pop / Big Pop Pop." Joe was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was loved by many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Joan (Guida) Lofink; his children: Joseph A. Lofink Jr. (Mary), and Cindy Shughart; his grandchildren: Danielle, Kathleen and Jennifer Lofink, and Jeff (Melissa), Jake and Jimmy Shughart; as well as his great-grandchildren: Norah and Layla Shughart.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, with visitation beginning at 2 p.m.
