Kelly John Racz, Kelly’s Outdoors owner

February 9, 2026

Kelly John Racz of Lewes passed away at his home Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026. Kelly, who was born in southern New Jersey, lived in many locations around the U.S. with his family as he was growing up. Eventually, they bought the Mispillion Lighthouse in Slaughter Beach and called Delaware their home. He and his family ran the restaurant and marina at that location in the mid-‘80s before opening their family business of R and R Sports Center on Route 1 in Lewes. Working alongside his parents, this is where his love of hunting and fishing became not only his hobby, but his lifelong career. Football was an important part of his life throughout his high school and college years. He graduated from Milford High School in 1987 and then University of Delaware in 1991. He then spent the rest of his life working in the hunting and fishing industry, and sharing his passion for the outdoors with all his customers, many of whom became his lifelong friends. He received numerous awards and accolades throughout his over 40 years in the industry. One of his greatest accomplishments was opening his own hunting and fishing store in 2017, Kelly’s Outdoors, in Millsboro. Some of his most cherished memories came from his annual alligator hunt in South Carolina as well as hunting and fishing with his family and friends.

Kelly is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jill (Osterholm) Racz; his daughter, Emily Racz; his son, Andrew Racz; his mother, Suzanne Blanchard; and sister, Karen (Racz) Hazzard, both of South Carolina; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews across the U.S. and Canada. Family was one of the most important things in life to him, as anyone who knew him can attest to.

He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Eugene Racz.

A celebration of life will be private and announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Reformation Lutheran Church, 613 Lakeview Ave., Milford, DE 19963, or Whitetails Unlimited, 814 Evergreen Road, Magnolia, DE 19962.
