Kids' Ketch to celebrate Neighborhood Toy Store Day Nov. 8

Event supports Lewes Public Library Building Fund
October 31, 2014

Kids' Ketch in Lewes will join hundreds of locally owned stores across the country in celebrating the fifth annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day, Saturday, Nov. 8, coordinated by the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association to help families discover the joy of shopping at their local, independently owned toy store this holiday season and beyond.

“When you shop at an independent toy store, you are entering a universe of playing possibilities,” said Kathleen McHugh, ASTRA president. “Neighborhood Toy Store Day is about celebrating the role the local store plays in the community. We are highlighting the expertise your local store has in selecting just the right innovative, exclusive and engaging toy to help your child grow and learn through play.”

As part of the festivities, Kids' Ketch will offer game demonstrations, raffles, entertainment by Chuckles the Clown, arts and crafts activities, and a gift of locally published book “No Kite in Sight” with each purchase to reinforce the importance of reading in a child's development.

Independent toy stores can help shoppers find top toys for the children on their list this holiday season with help from ASTRA's 2014 Best Toys for Kids list. Selected by independent toy retailers from across the country, this year's list honors the new and improved toys that promote open-ended or creative play and incorporate innovative design features.

Teresa Ford of Kids' Ketch said, “With our expert understanding of how kids play, we have selected the toys that deliver the highest value, inviting imaginative discovery and encouraging creative thinking. We assist shoppers with their purchasing choices when needed and give good insight to the value of the specific toys for the child's age.”

Consumers can be confident that more of the dollars spent in local, independently owned stores stay in the community - 25 percent more in contrast with national chains, according to the 3/50 Project. Resident business owners pour more money and energy back into the community in the form of everything from tax dollars to charity donations.

In support of that statement, Kids' Ketch will be donating 10 percent of the proceeds from the day to the new Lewes Public Library Building Fund, which will enrich the lives of children and adults alike in the local community.
