I was absolutely appalled to read Ryan Mavity's Nov. 11 article about the upcoming state-sponsored killing of deer in Henlopen Acres.
Sometime after Dec. 1, hunters armed with cruel archaic bows and arrows, and in some cases perched high on homeowners' decks, will shoot those arrows at and into innocent peaceful creatures who live in the neighborhood.
Those poor animals who do not die immediately often linger in intense pain from the wound of the arrow and die a slow, agonizing death. All this in the name of "population control" - disgusting!
It's well known and documented that these kinds of draconian measures simply do not work. Delaware is woefully out of touch on this issue, and those in charge in the state need to educate themselves on humane alternatives that are in fact both kinder and more effective.
