Knights of Columbus donate coats for Cape students in need

October 27, 2019

Members of the Star of the Sea Council 7297 Knights of Columbus recently donated and delivered six cases of coats, valued at $2,000, to the Cape Henlopen School District.

Some students in the district may not have a coat to wear during the cold months of the year, but with help from community organizations like the Knights, they will be provided with warm outerwear.

“Donations such as this from the Knights of Columbus help to provide jackets to students who may not otherwise have one,” said Dave McDowell, homeless liaison for the Cape Henlopen School District. “We’re grateful to them for helping us provide necessities to our students when they need it most.”

“We are now in our 40th year of working to help our community,” said Paul King, grand knight. “We provide items such as clothing, like these 150 coats, food to several community food banks, and support for the youth and families in many different programs.”
