Many thanks to Ron MacArthur for his excellent Nov. 24 column about the Fort Miles mine planting operation during World War II. As Ron points out, with this operation as part of the Fort Miles' defenses, Fort Miles was the most fortified military installation on the East Coast during the war.
Fort Miles Museum and our partners, Fort Miles Historical Association and Delaware State Parks, seek to preserve the memory of those who served during WWII and honor those who serve today. We are embarking on projects that will significantly enhance the visitor experience and build on bringing an important educational experience to all of those who come to see our exhibits and take our tours. Especially during this holiday season, we are grateful to our many supporters in the community who have contributed numerous volunteer hours, as well as the financial resources to fulfill our mission.
