La Red Health Center hires two new dentists
La Red Health Center in Georgetown has hired two new dentists. They are Gardenia A. Searcy, DDS, and Phyllis Colombaro, DDS.
Searcy holds her doctor of dental surgery from Howard University. She completed a one-year general practice residency program at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, D.C. in the Department of Mental Health/Clinical Dentistry. A commissioned captain of the U.S. Army Dental Corps, Searcy served at Fort Bragg, N.C. She has close to 20 years of dental experience including serving as a staff dentist for another federally qualified health center, the Henrietta Johnson Medical Center in Wilmington. "I am excited to bring my extensive experience as a dentist to La Red Health Center. I believe that the people of Sussex County deserve the very best oral healthcare,” said Searcy.
Colombaro received her doctor of dental surgery from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry and a master of science in microbiology from McNeese State University. Since 1987, Colombaro has worked as an associate in different private practices. In 1994 she opened her own private practice and provided dental care to all age groups. Colombaro’s philosophy has always been, to put the patient first.”] Now, she shares that philosophy with La Red. “Together, we will offer comprehensive oral health services care to all members of our community,” said Colombaro.
“Dr. Searcy and Dr. Colombaro have a significant amount of experience, which will help them address the oral health care needs of the diverse population we serve in Sussex County, Delaware,” said La Red Health Center Chief Executive Officer Brian S. Olson.
Sussex County is federally designated as an underserved area for medical, dental and mental health services. La Red offers a sliding fee scale based on income and family size for uninsured patients, and accepts Medicaid and most insurance plans including all plans available through the Delaware Marketplace. At La Red , patients can also receive assistance to fill out Medicaid applications, obtain free or discounted prescription drugs and, under certain circumstances, obtain transportation assistance if it is available.
