Lefty’s to host back-to-school bash for community Aug. 18

August 6, 2024

Lefty's Alley & Eats will host a back-to-school bash, free and open to the public, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 18, at 36450 Plaza Blvd., Lewes.

Designed to support local families as they prepare for the upcoming school year, the event will feature a wide range of activities and resources aimed at fostering community engagement and supporting educational initiatives. Attendees can look forward to an exciting play area for children with a bounce house and creative face painting. Carnival-style games such as ring toss and spin art will be available, providing fun for all ages.

Interactive workshops will engage children in hands-on learning experiences. Educational booths will provide information on before- and after-school care programs from Sussex Family YMCA and Rehoboth Beach Boys & Girls Club, as well as informational offerings from other local community groups. A variety of delicious food options will be available inside in Lefty’s restaurant.

Free school supplies will help ensure students arrive ready to learn in the new academic year.

Live music will be performed by 13-year-old DJ Sizzlin’ September, adding a youthfully festive atmosphere.

The Zwaanendael Museum will present interactive historical exhibits, and representatives from local schools, including Cape Henlopen School District PTOs, will be available to discuss their programs and initiatives.

In partnership with Grass Roots Rescue, adoptable pets will be on site, offering the opportunity to bring home a new furry friend.

“We are committed to supporting our community through events that provide both fun and educational value,” said Aleya Tingle, marketing director at Lefty's Alley & Eats. “Our back to school bash is an excellent opportunity for families to engage with local resources, enjoy a variety of activities, and prepare for a successful school year.”
