Letter: Aren’t there laws about texting and driving?

April 23, 2019

Regarding the recent commentary on ‘intexticated’ driving - I don’t understand this.

Aren’t there laws about driving and being on the phone - made to address the issue of keeping eyes and attention on driving? Why is this any different for texting? Emailing? Why can’t people get arrested for this? Made to pay fines or go to jail?

It’s not only their own lives they are putting on the line. Aren’t texts and emails time-stamped, so there’s solid evidence that someone was texting and emailing instead of looking where they were going?
