Lewes 8-10 All-Stars defeat Nanticoke, Woodbridge

After falling to Millsboro in the opening round of the District 3 tournament, the Lewes 8-10 baseball all-stars downed Nanticoke 13-6 and Woodbridge 13-2 in Milton. The squad moves on to face a tough Georgetown squad Tuesday, July 8.
Lewes outhit Nanticoke 10-5 in the July 3 contest. Bentley Jackson and Austin Coulter delivered from the plate, knocking in two runs each. Shane Reynolds, Owen Jackson, Jack Eanes and Maxwell Bradshaw each plated a run.
Deacon Jones, Reynolds, Jackson and Coulter all had two hits in the game. Jackson and Coulter plated two runs each. Reynolds, Owen Jackson, Jack Eanes and Maxwell Bradshaw each delivered an RBI.
Jones picked up the win on the mound, striking out four batters over four innings. Joey Petito and Eanes pitched in relief to preserve the victory.
Lewes continued its run July 5, hanging a 13-2 loss on Woodbridge by outhitting them 7-3. Conor Cleary, Eanes and Renzo Lake combined to strike out nine batters.
Reynolds went 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs in the game. Eanes went 2-for-2 with a double, plating two RBIs. Jones, Petito, Owen Jackson and Bradshaw each knocked in a run.
“Our team played outstanding defense against Millsboro who batted well with 12 hits,” said Lewes manager Patrick Jackson. “Renzo [Lake] hit an in-the-park home run, scoring three runs, and brought us back within reach. We just couldn’t get the win. Our boys have really come together and are playing well moving on through the tournament. Shane Reynolds has led the way with hits and Bentley Jackson has been a wall behind home plate. We are very proud of this team, both on and off the field.”
