Lewes BPW clarifies stance on home solar installations

August 11, 2023

In the Aug. 8 edition of the Cape Gazette, there was a letter to the editor that might be subject to misinterpretation regarding renewable energy installations in Lewes, specifically related to the installation of solar panels.

The greater Lewes 19958 ZIP code is served by several electric utilities, the Lewes Board of Public Works being one of them. We cannot speak for the other electric utilities; we can only speak for the Lewes BPW policies.

As a point of clarification, the Lewes BPW is fully supportive of renewable energy and battery storage. Customers of the BPW may still apply for installation of solar panels on their homes or businesses.

Any BPW customer wishing to apply for a solar permit may go to https://tinyurl.com/2p97y4at.

Please feel free to contact the Lewes BPW directly for more information.

President, Lewes Board of Public Works
