Lewes BPW repairing water main break near drawbridge

The Lewes Board on Public Works repaired a broken water main near the drawbridge at Savannah Road and Gills Neck Road Dec. 8.
Tom Panetta, BPW board president, said customers in the area of Front Street and Gills Neck Road experienced temporary outages.
Panetta said an old 12-inch line had broken in two places. As of late afternoon on Dec. 8, Panetta said they were still investigating the cause.
He said residents and businesses would not experience any more outages. He said there were no health concerns.
Panetta said workers were expected to return Dec. 9 to install a temporary patch on the part of Gills Neck Road that was dug up.
The repairs had Gills Neck closed from Savannah to Rodaline Ave. Panetta said the break was reported around 7 a.m., Dec. 8.
