Lewes BPW seeks submissions for water tower art

August 4, 2023

The Lewes Board of Public Works is excited to extend the opportunity to our community members to participate in the planning/designing process of developing ideas related to the color and logo design for the new water tower. This water tower will be constructed on the Jones Farm property at the corner of Kings Highway and Clay Road. The water tower will be placed in the back corner of the property, adjacent to the well field. Currently, the BPW is considering positioning two logos (BPW logo and City of Lewes crest) on two sides of the tower and painting the entire tower a light water-tower blue color. Before we make a final decision, the board is seeking the public’s input and would like to solicit its thoughts and ideas. We are encouraging residents to submit designs to display Lewes pride on the new water tower.

What to submit - The BPW is looking for ideas that represent the Lewes community and what makes our little town so great. A digital file with .jpg, .png, or .pdf extensions is preferred, but physical design drawings/sketches may be submitted. File size should not exceed 100MB. More than one submission per person is allowed. The BPW will also welcome any suggestions without the submission of artwork.

How to submit - The BPW is requesting that anyone interested in submitting logo designs, color options, etc., to be considered for the project, submit them no later than 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20. Designs may be submitted online at lewesbpwde.gov/2023/07/bpw-encourages-public-participation-of-selecting-water-tower-color-and-logo and include your full name in the file name, or drop off/mail to the BPW office, 107 Franklin Ave., ATTN: Sharon Sexton. Should you have any questions, reach out to Sharon Sexton at 302-644-5313.

Please keep in mind that artwork may potentially be selected and will be visible to all who visit our beautiful city and surrounding area. Staff and board members will review all submissions and suggestions for the new water tower design. The board looks forward to seeing the inspiration.
