Master Gardener Karen Wilkens recently held a workshop on lasagna gardening at the Lewes Community Garden.
Attendees learned about this less labor-intensive method of preparing soil by layering with newspaper, shredded paper, compost, grass clippings, chopped leaves and aged manure to create a breathable space for plants and necessary microorganisms to grow. No soil tilling is needed.
