The Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Chapter invites dementia caregivers from Sussex County and surrounding areas to an educational symposium from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, at the Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes.
Registration is required, and light refreshments will be provided. Go to tinyurl.com/SussexCaregiverSymposium to sign up or call 800-272-3900.
Attendees will learn from local experts and caregivers about dealing with common challenges, best practices for managing burnout, the latest in assistive technologies, and the availability of resources and support services.
Topics to be covered include: Senior Care Solutions, Caregiving and Technology, Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease: What Caregivers Need to Know, and more. A panel discussion and Q&A session will follow a presentation on Caregiving Uncovered: Stories, Strength and Support.
“Supporting someone living with dementia comes with both unique challenges and meaningful rewards,” said Erica Holmes, Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Chapter programs manager. “By attending this symposium, dementia caregivers will benefit from practical information they can put to use right away, along with opportunities to connect with fellow caregivers and professionals who understand their experience.
“We are proud to bring this educational opportunity to the Southern Delaware community, helping caregivers build confidence, learn effective strategies for navigating the caregiving journey and provide quality care while maintaining their own well-being,” Holmes said.
