Lingo honors Rollins family with $100K gift to beach house
Children’s Beach House officials are proud to announce a generous $100,000 gift from Bryce Lingo, marking one of the organization’s most significant private contributions of the year.
“This gift honors the Rollins family, and especially the late Peggy Rollins, who was an angel to the city of Lewes,” Lingo said. “The Rollinses and the Lingos go back generations, and I am so proud to make this investment in an organization that both Mrs. Rollins and my brother Derrick loved.” As a teen, Derrick Lingo II volunteered at Children’s Beach House as a lifeguard; he later served as a trustee, and an endowment in his name was established upon his death in 2017.
“Bryce has not only reminded Lewes of the Lingos’ and Rollinses’ legacies; he is securing the future of children who need and deserve access to quality early childhood education and early intervention,” said CBH Executive Director Rich Garrett. “Philanthropic leadership like his enables our 1:5 teacher-student ratios and ensures that every child gets what they need to thrive.”
Lingo’s donation follows the sale of the Rollins family farm. “I’m grateful to Thorne Winter, Erin Ray and the Rollinses for trusting me with the sale of this historic parcel,” Lingo said. “The Northstar Group were professional and productive throughout the process, and they’re the perfect stewards of this property.”
His gift will be applied to the $2 million match challenge issued by the Ma-Ran Foundation, which Margaret and Randall Rollins established in 1991. Children’s Beach House is working to secure the last $300,000 of the match before Sept. 30, 2026. When complete, CBH’s Ma-Ran Endowment, also named for the couple, will be vested with $4 million to secure the future of the Margaret H. Rollins Child Development Center at Children’s Beach House, where 3- and 4-year-olds with speech and language delays learn alongside their typically developing peers.
Founded in 1936, Children’s Beach House serves children statewide through early childhood education, after-school programming, residential camps and family wrap-around services, helping children, families and communities build futures of hope and transformation.
