Lisa Ann (Pauley) Bevan, administrative assistant
Lisa Ann (Pauley) Bevan, 57, of Frankford passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Md.
She was born in Seaford Jan. 5, 1961, to the late William C. Pauley and the late Gloria (Pusey) Pauley, and raised in Georgetown. She had attended Sussex Central High School and graduated from James H. Groves High School.
Lisa soon started her family and was married to Calvin L. Mitchell, II from 1978 until 1985. From that marriage, she had her three sons, Calvin L. Mitchell III, Jamie A. Mitchell and Jason S. Mitchell. She then met and married Jerry Banks in 1988 until 2002, and from that union she had her daughter, Jodie E. Banks. In 2016 she married her “honeybee,” Richard A. Bevan Jr.
Lisa held several jobs, until she found her calling as an administrative assistant with Melson Funeral Services in the mid-1990s. She provided care and compassion to the families that the funeral home served until her battle with lung cancer in 2016. She was a survivor of lung cancer and had begun to enjoy life again, spending time with her family, enjoying long stays in Chincoteague, Va., and traveling throughout the United States.
Lisa was devoted to her family, and will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife to her “honeybee,” Rich and a loving but guiding hand to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed following politics, birdwatching, gardening, music and spending days at the beach. She had served as a Girl Scout leader, a past member of the Frankford Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and gave to many charities close to her heart. Lisa loved taking long rides on the backroads and hosting family game nights, especially playing cornhole. Let’s not forget how much she love a good scare, both giving and receiving. She loved her friends like family and her family like friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Pauley; a sister, Christine Pauley; her mother-in-law, Martha L. Bevan; a special dog, Penny, and Iggy the cat.
She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Bevan Jr.; her children, Calvin L. Mitchell III (Sami) of Laurel, Jamie A. Mitchell (Megan) of Milford, Jason S. Mitchell of Bridgeville, Jodie E. Banks of Frankford and Jewell B. Franklin (Annie) of Millsboro; five grandchildren, Jaymes, Mackenzie, Ellie, Dominic and Destinee; two sisters, Donna Pauley Melson and Kathy Spear; a brother, Michael Pauley; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by special friends Tom and Carole Bevan, Brice and Angela Long, Mark and Joanne Hammond, Dorothy Hitchens; her brother and sisters-in-law, Beverly and Lawrence Bayley, Jude Bevan and Genie Gunn and her beloved “Cooper.”
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 23, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., where friends and family may call after noon. Interment will follow at Prince George’s Cemetery in Dagsboro.
