Lincoln resident Daniel Dohring will be showing a selection of his original abstract paintings including new pieces and prints from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 21 and 22, at his Fantastic Voyage art gallery, 16492 Fitzgeralds Road, Lincoln.
Located on Dohring's property, the gallery is only about 200 square feet, and he calls it Delaware's smallest and strangest art gallery.
Dohring's life as an artist began in the 1980s when he was a teenager in high school, where sketching and drawing was a favorite hobby. During that time, he had one of his pen-and-ink drawings entered into a high school art show and won an award for best design. In time, he became the owner of Dohring Galleries in Huntingdon, Pa., which featured many of the top wildlife, nature and fantasy artists of the ‘80s and ‘90s, such as Charles Wysocki, Bev Doolittle and Thomas Kinkade.
In 2000, Dohring relocated to his family's roots in southern Delaware, and he now paints almost daily in his studio. He describes his paintings as abstract with a touch of sci-fi, fantasy and other oddities.
