Local author tells life-changing story of spiritual growth

May 9, 2021

“The Double-Edged Sword” by Christopher Turnbull of Rehoboth Beach is a recently published story about his spiritual growth after worldly obsessions led him to the darkest place he has ever been.

After seeking counseling, Turnbull discovered so much more in life from having a relationship with Jesus Christ. Working in the emergency services field for 20 years, he has had his fair share of challenging calls and impacted the lives of so many people. Over time, he learned to suppress his feelings, living on coffee and adrenaline.

But when the stress of the job combined with the changes brought on by 2020, Turnbull felt powerless to stop the downward spiral in his life. The pent-up emotions resurfaced. The lies he had been telling himself for support were exposed. With nowhere else to turn, he had to make a choice. The first option was to continue handling everything his way, which he had been doing poorly for 20 years, or he could seek God.

“The Double-Edged Sword” has been released as a Christian book with Amazon in the categories of mens’ issues, spiritual growth, and inspirational. It has also been categorized as an emergency medical services book calling to colleagues to find their support structure. Turnbull hopes readers will take a more personal look at their relationship with Jesus and build on it. For some, he is hoping to introduce them to Jesus Christ. For his colleagues, he is hoping to shine a light some can follow to prevent further suicides.

Currently, “The Double-Edged Sword,” also available in Kindle edition, is ranked No. 18 hot new release on Amazon in the category of Christian Men’s Issues, No. 48 in Medical Professionals Biography, and No. 71 in Stress Management Self-Help. This is the story every Christian needs to read to remind themselves that each person who enters the church came from somewhere.

“As Christians, we don’t look down on anybody except to reach down and lift them up. This is my experience of coming to Jesus in a new way and being shown what a life devoted to God looks like,” said Turnbull.
