Look Who’s Cooking raises $20,000 for Sussex Habitat
Sussex County Habitat for Humanity recently hosted its inaugural Look Who’s Cooking fundraiser at St. Jude Parish Center in Lewes. More than 45 local real estate professionals served as volunteer chefs and bartenders to a crowd of more than 250 attendees.
The evening began with a blessing from St. Jude Parish Pastor Brian Lewis and included taste samples from 24 stations, libations, a 50/50 raffle and a tricky tray auction. The volunteer chefs competed in the categories of appetizers, entrées and desserts.
Ticket holders were the judges and the competition was fierce.
“Everyone raved about the food, and couldn’t believe the range of culinary talents of our local real estate community. Our volunteer chefs were just fabulous,” said Rick De Gironimo, volunteer event chair.
Trophies went to first- through third-place winners, including LWC Top Chef for Appetizers Jose Quinones of Linda Vista Real Estate for fresh empanada, LWC Top Chef for Entrées Adam Linder of the Allison Stine Team of Northrop Realtors for his Asian-inspired short ribs and fresh vegetables and LWC Top Chef for Desserts Cheryl Crowe of Jack Lingo Realtors, for her bourbon and bacon chocolate cupcakes with bourbon-laced chocolate milk.
The event, which raised nearly $20,000, was sponsored by Tidemark Federal Credit Union, Schell Brothers, Keller Williams DE MD Foundation, Baird, Mandalas and Brockstedt, LLC, and media sponsor WRDE/WBOC Draper Media.
