Lunch group supports Champions for Children’s Mental Health

February 1, 2026

Lunch With a Purpose Coastal Delaware members gathered Jan. 7 at the Atlantic Sands Hotel in Rehoboth to support Champions for Children’s Mental Health.

CCMH serves families of children and youth with behavioral, emotional and mental health challenges. It helps families navigate complex issues to find support in schools, healthcare and the courts. The family-run nonprofit is structured under the guidelines of the National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health.

Barbara Messick, CCMH executive director and founder, spoke to event attendees, citing both her personal experience and those of other caregivers. She explained how the peer-led team provides support, education and advocacy to families, many of whom are struggling financially, to understand their options while navigating this often overwhelming journey.

The event raised $11,360 in cash and in-kind donations, with 1,027 pounds of nonperishable items collected for the Food Bank of Delaware.
