Lunch group supports Read Aloud Delaware
Lunch With a Purpose Coastal Delaware members gathered Oct. 1 at the Cambria Hotel in Rehoboth Beach in support of Read Aloud Delaware.
James Spadola, executive director, said the nonprofit’s mission is to create a lifelong impact through promoting early childhood literacy. Its vision is for every child in Delaware to have the foundational literacy skills they need to succeed in school and life.
Stacy Penaranda, Sussex County director, said volunteers play a crucial role in achieving those goals by providing one-on-one reading experiences with children.
The event raised $14,736 in cash and in-kind donations. A total of 1,793 pounds of nonperishable food was collected for the Food Bank of Delaware.
