Renewing what has become an annual event, Lewes Yacht Club Foundation volunteers hosted youth from Sussex Family YMCA Aug. 19 for a day of water activities, including swimming, sailing, paddleboarding and kayaking, as part of the club’s community outreach. Prior to getting out on the water, foundation volunteers provided a water safety course.
“Girls and boys experienced the thrills the Delaware Bay provides us every day, some for the first time,” said Chip Beaverson, foundation president.
The mission of the LYC Foundation is to provide funding to enhance the potential of youth in swimming, sailing, maritime activities and education.

YMCA campers (l-r) Delaney Lorber, Adryana Savage, Michaela Chacon and Glee Dubois are ready to do some paddleboarding on the Delaware Bay.

With the help of Lewes Yacht Club Foundation members and sailing school staff, YMCA campers get a Hobie ready to launch off Lewes Beach.
