Madeline Bradshaw, 19, lost 25 pounds and changed her life

January 21, 2017

Nineteen-year-old Madeline Bradshaw is not the type of person you would expect to hire a personal trainer, but when her parents started my 12-week body transformation, she was inspired to get in shape, so she decided to join the program too. What makes this unusual is that most people her age are more concerned with having a good time than watching what they eat and going to the gym, but Madeline made a complete lifestyle change and achieved great results.

Madeline has a busy schedule; she works during the day and attends college at night, but when she had an opportunity to get in better shape, she jumped at the chance. She had already taken an interest in fitness and previously lost 15 pounds on her own, so she hoped to take things to the next level and see even better results. “I saw my mom do this program last year when it was offered to Sposato Landscaping - the company she works for - and I had gradually been getting in better shape, so I thought I would give it a try and see what I could do,” she said.

The 12-week body transformation is a combination of weight training, cardio and proper diet guidelines, and it takes a lot of hard work and discipline, but if you follow instructions, not only will you learn a lot about how your body responds to food and exercise but you can achieve great results, and that’s exactly what Madeline did. Each week, Madeline charted her weight loss and updated her progress so she had a very clear vision of how far she had come. She also tested in the Bod Pod in the beginning, middle and end of her transformation. “I set up a reward system where every time I lost five pounds I would treat myself to something that I wanted as a way to motivate myself to work harder. For example, one week I bought a wireless headset.” In addition, she would report her progress to us, and we would send her new instructions weekly. “I was surprised when I started the program and kept losing more weight every week. When I tried to do this on my own, the weight loss was a lot slower.”

In the past, I was skeptical of teenagers doing our 12-week body transformation program because I wasn’t sure they would be able to remain focused, but Madeline’s results caused me to rethink my opinion. In just 90 days, she lost 25 pounds and 35 percent of her starting body fat, and completely changed her entire appearance. She is the youngest person we have ever had join the program, and she has set a very high standard for others who follow. “It’s a simple thing to put in your life. It starts with having confidence in yourself and setting realistic goals. It won’t happen overnight, but if you don’t give up, it will change your life,” said Madeline.

Madeline has now lost a total of 40 pounds in the last six months and is a completely different person. Congratulations, Madeline, you are a perfect example that fitness and health have nothing to do with how old you are, and anyone, regardless of age, willing to put in the hard work can get great results too.
