Man charged in sexual abuse of Lewes girl
A Milton man faces charges June 6 after Lewes police say he sexually abused a girl while he was living in Lewes.
Lewes Police Chief Thomas Spell said the Lewes Police Department began investigating in May after the Division of Family Services notified them of alleged sexual offenses against a girl.
As a result, Spell said, Lewes detectives assisted by the Delaware Department of Justice and forensic interviewers from the Children’s Advocacy Center identified Kevin T. Boyer, 50, as a suspect. Boyer, a current Milton resident, was living in the same Lewes home as the girl between 2016 and 2021 when the crimes were committed, Spell said. The girl was between the ages of 7 and 12 at the time, he said.
Boyer was arrested and charged with the following felonies: first-degree sexual abuse of a child by a person in a position of trust, continuous sexual abuse of a child, unlawful sexual conduct against a child by a sex offender, second-degree sexual abuse of a child by a person in a position of trust, second-degree attempt to commit sexual abuse of a child by a person in a position of trust, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Boyer was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Department of Correction in default of $242,000 bail.
