Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing awards medical staff scholarships

April 5, 2021

Beebe Medical Staff recognizes the support of nursing education as a very important component of its mission in the promotion and delivery of healthcare in Sussex County.

The Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing at Beebe Healthcare has a long, proud tradition of excellence in nursing education and remains the only community hospital-based institution in Delaware to continue to fulfill this mission.

The medical staff created the nursing scholars program to support the nursing education of eligible candidates at the School of Nursing, which includes the students’ expressed desire to stay and practice in the community after graduation.

The medical staff scholarship is presented annually to recognize exceptional clinical performance in nursing.

Three senior students are the scholarship recipients this year: Makenzie Collins of Selbyville, Peyton Medd of Lewes and Paiton Murray of Georgetown. Each plans to seek employment at Beebe Healthcare.

These students chose to attend the Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing because of its reputation for a rigorous program with graduates who have excellent clinical skills. In addition, they recognize that the School of Nursing has a consistently high pass rate on the registered nurse licensure exam. Each of the recipients plans to continue their education after graduation, with an ultimate goal of completing a master’s degree in nursing.

The School of Nursing graduating class of 2020 recently achieved a pass rate of 100 percent, and the school was named the No. 1 nursing school in Delaware by RegisteredNursing.org.

The Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing at Beebe Healthcare is the only hospital-based nursing program in Delaware and is accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. The diploma in professional nursing is awarded at the completion of the curriculum, qualifying graduates to be eligible for National Council of State Boards of Nursing NCLEX examination, leading to licensure as a registered nurse. Beebe graduates consistently have high NCLEX pass rates.
