A. Martin Conaway, U.S. Army veteran
A. Martin Conaway, 81, of Millsboro passed away peacefully in the care of his daughter, Sheredia in Atlanta, Ga. Sunday, July 3, 2011.
Born in Millsboro June 5, 1930, he was the son of the late Paul Andrews Conaway and Annie V. Wiggins. He was a member of Dickerson Chapel, A.M.E. Church, and was a veteran of the Korean War era, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Prince Hall Masonic Temple, as well.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife of 52 years, Betty Louise Conaway, in 2010, and a sister: Evelyn Conaway. He is survived by his daughter, Sheridia Langhorne, of Riverdale, Ga.; and his siblings: James Robert Conaway, and his wife Barbara, of Upper Marlboro, Md., Ernest B. Conaway, of Ft. Washington, Md.; and his sister: Mabel Conaway, of Millsboro. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law: Donald B. Short, and his companion, Colette, of Bethesda, Md. and Bruce Short, of Philadelphia, Pa.; and his two grandchildren: Katryna Langhorne, of New York, N.Y. and Lauren Langhorne, of Riverdale.
A time of visitation will be held beginning at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 8, at Dickerson Chapel A.M.E. on Rt. 113 in Millsboro and a celebration of his life and going home service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Interment follows at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, where military honors will be conferred. Floral tributes are welcomed by the church and the family.
