Medical Society of Delaware unveils new logo

November 4, 2011

The Medical Society of Delaware has launched a new brand identity, Leading the Way to a Healthy Delaware, designed to represent all the society does for Delaware physicians and patients. The identity was first revealed to members at the society’s 222nd Annual Meeting held Oct. 22 at the organization’s offices and conference center in Newark.

As part of this new branding initiative, a completely redesigned and informative new website, www.MedicalSocietyofDelaware.org, was unveiled at the meeting.

The organization’s House of Delegates voted at the meeting to adopt a more streamlined and responsive governance structure. The three county medical societies which were drawn on for geographic leadership roles within the state society have been eliminated, leaving the society to be governed as a single statewide organization. A leadership summit planned for February 2012 will finalize the details for the new structure.

Election of officers who will serve for the coming year also took place at the meeting. They include Randeep S. Kahlon, M.D., president; Stephen J. Kushner, D.O., president-elect; Kevin P. Sheahan, M.D., vice president; Harry A. Lehman, M.D., secretary; Joseph F. Hacker III, M.D., treasurer; Robert L. Meckelnburg, M.D., speaker of the house; and Garth A. Koniver, M.D., vice speaker of the house.

The new president is an orthopaedic surgeon with First State Orthopaedics in Newark and is director of orthopaedic education and research at Christiana Care Health System. He also serves as a trustee for the Mid-Atlantic Region of the Arthritis Foundation.

The Medical Society of Delaware, the third-oldest society of its kind in the United States, was founded Feb. 3, 1789. The principle upon which this professional society of physicians was founded has remained steadfast: to further the ideals of the medical profession, thereby enhancing the health and well-being of the citizens of Delaware.
