MERR Institute to host annual Finraiser Nov. 17

November 7, 2018

The Marine Education, Research and Rehabilitation Institute will host its annual Finraiser from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, at the scenic and newly remodeled Salero, atop the Henlopen Hotel and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Rehoboth Beach.

One of the area’s premier fundraising events, Finraiser is filled with music, food and fabulous auction items, all going to protect marine mammals and sea turtles, and their ocean habitat.

Once again, the evening will  feature numerous auction items from area businesses, including dinners, one-of-a-kind artisans’ wares, fair trade products, catered sailing excursions, hotel stays, vacation packages, golf outings, artwork, jewelry, and gift certificates to local stores and restaurants, any of which would make excellent holiday gifts. Auctioneer Frank McCraghan will return to the helm to keep audiences laughing and bidding.

Celebrity bartenders will help kick off the event with a wine and champagne tasting from 4 to 5 p.m.

Attendees can enjoy a delicious array of heavy hors d’oeuvres and desserts while they bid on an outstanding selection of live and silent auction items, or try their luck at the Lucky Draw.

Live music by 33 1/3 will provide the soundtrack to the evening’s festivities, which will include opportunities to meet the members of the MERR team and learn about their numerous rescues, events and conservation efforts during the past year.

Tickets for the event are $70, with all proceeds going toward the nonprofit organization’s efforts in marine mammal and sea turtle rescue.

Last year’s event sold out in advance, so making reservations early is suggested.
