Milton Concerts in the Park to return June 2

Shows to be held every Wednesday
May 26, 2021

A summertime tradition in Milton will be back in 2021.

Concerts in the Park, held every Wednesday from June to September, will officially return Wednesday, June 2, in Milton Memorial Park, after last year’s slate was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The series will kick off with longtime park favorites 33 1/3, with all concerts starting at 7 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, which is normal, but the difference is those in attendance will also have to follow state COVID guidelines. That includes masks, social distancing, and hand sanitizer stations, and all attendees will need to provide contact information in case of a need for contact tracing.

Additional concerts in June will include the Reunion Band June 9, bluegrass act Delmarva Ramblers June 16, Motown-style R&B outfit Shades of Blue June 23 and country band Tydewater June 30.

In July, big band act Smooth Sound will play July 7, followed by Over Time July 14, No Spare Time July 21 and the Funsters July 28.

The final full month of performances will be August, with the Al Frantic Band Aug. 4, The U.S. Navy Commodores Aug. 11, tribute act Patsy Cline and Friends Aug. 18 and The Pros from Dover Aug. 25.

The concerts will conclude in September, with the final solo performance Sept. 1 with western swing band Big Hat No Cattle.

The park will host the Broadkill Music Festival, a daylong event running from 11 a.m. into the evening Saturday, Sept. 4. Confirmed bands include Tydewater, Mason Dixon Band, Cathy Gorman, Sweetwater and the U.S. Navy Band Country Current.

All shows are free to the public, and for the first concert of every month, visitors are encouraged to bring canned goods for Food Pantry Collection Night, which benefits Milton Community Food Pantry.
