Milton Elementary FAME students celebrate Lights on Afterschool

November 7, 2019

Now in it 11th year, the Milton Elementary FAME program hosted a Lights on Afterschool event Oct. 24, when students explored STEM activities throughout the evening.

Activities included Toothpick Tower, in which students used toothpicks and mini marshmallows to build a tower; House of Cards, in which students were required to use only a deck of cards to build a structure; Opposite Hand Drawing station, where students had to draw a jack o’lantern with their nondominant hand, and a Collaborative Coloring station where students drew pictures inside letters that spelled out FAME.

In between stations, students practiced skills learning during the school day or worked on homework assignments. Parents and guardians were invited to attend to see student activities.

FAME is powered by a 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
