Milton installs new ADA ramps on Coulter Street

April 16, 2022

The Town of Milton recently completed a $28,000 upgrade to its sidewalks to install Americans With Disabilities Act-compliant ramps on Coulter Street.

Town Manager Kristy Rogers said the town has a goal to improve its pedestrian network, specifically in the area of Chestnut, Coulter and Federal streets. The first improvement to be done was installing new ramps at both ends of Coulter Street.

Besides being easier to access for people with disabilities, Rogers said, the ramps will also help make the sidewalks safer for kids walking in that area from nearby Milton Elementary School.

In addition to this project, town council recently passed an ADA transition plan that is intended, over time, to make sidewalks townwide more ADA compliant.
