Milton man graduates from U.S. Merchant Marine Academy

Christopher G. Dean of Milton graduated June 23 from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point with a bachelor of science degree in maritime logistics and security.

Dean was nominated by Sen. Chris Coons, Sen. Tom Carper and Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester, Delaware’s congressional delegation, for an appointment to this federal service academy, one of five service academies in the nation. During his time there, Dean was an active participant in the USMMA Offshore sailing team.

Dean is a 2021 graduate of Sussex Tech High School, where he was a member of the Raven Nation Marching Band. He is an Eagle Scout with Troop 1 Lewes, and a Quartermaster Sea Scout with Ship 198 of Milton-Broadkill. Dean will be working in the private sector of the maritime industry and serving as an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
