Milton student raises funds to support Ronald McDonald House
Wyatt Wilkinson, a fourth-grade student at Milton Elementary School, recently took the initiative to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House.
The house provides safe and comfortable lodging for families of children undergoing medical treatment at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington.
Through the sales of rosemary salt, Wyatt raised enough money to provide four families with a one-week stay.
The Ronald McDonald House holds special meaning for Wyatt. Shortly after he was born, he and his family spent time there while he received care in the neonatal intensive care unit. “I wanted to help the families who need help, just like my family did when I was born,” Wyatt said.
By combining his entrepreneurial spirit with compassion, Wyatt raised funds and also shared a powerful message about kindness, empathy and community service. His idea to make and sell rosemary salt was inspired by his grandmother and their love of cooking together.
“We are incredibly proud of Wyatt for using his personal experience to help others,” said Jason Scott, assistant principal at Milton Elementary. “His generosity and determination show what one student can do to make a real difference in the lives of families in need.”
