Milton Theatre to hold soft reopening

May 27, 2020

It will be in a very different environment, but starting Wednesday, June 3, Milton Theatre will once again be open for business.

Perhaps fittingly, the first event for the theater’s soft reopening is the 1939 classic, “The Wizard of Oz,” with screenings at 3 and 7 p.m. The following day, Thursday, June 4, will feature a screening of 1982’s “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” with screenings again at 3 and 7 p.m.

The first live shows of the theater’s reopening are a standup comedy show set for, 8 p.m., Friday, June 5, featuring Keith Purnell, Missy Hall and Jeremy Hall. Finally, there will be a drag show featuring Magnolia Applebottom and guests at 8 p.m., Saturday, June 6.

Tickets are available by telephone only, 302-684-3038.

Milton Theatre canceled shows and closed not long after Gov. John Carney’s state of emergency declaration shut down businesses and theaters across the state to help stop the spread of COVID-19. In mid-May, Carney released Phase 1 of the state’s reopening plan, which allowed businesses to reopen at 30 percent capacity.

For Milton Theatre events, social distancing guidelines will be in place, and those attending must wear face coverings. Ticket availability is limited to preserve seat distancing.
