Mountaire Farms seeks volunteers to pack 2,500 food boxes April 16

Thanksgiving at Easter to provide nutritious meals to those in need
March 14, 2019

As Easter approaches, Mountaire Farms is once again gearing up to feed hungry families on Delmarva. The company is seeking volunteers who can help pack 2,500 food boxes Tuesday, April 16, at its warehouse in Selbyville.

For the past few decades, Mountaire has donated a complete meal in a box to needy families at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. A local food drive at area grocery stores and schools before Thanksgiving helps supplement the effort.

Volunteers from more than 35 local churches, food pantries and shelters will arrive at 8:30 a.m., April 16, at the company’s warehouse on Railroad Avenue across from the processing plant in Selbyville. They will prepare boxes of food including a Mountaire roaster, and the packed meals will be delivered to local churches for distribution to families in need. The boxes will provide a nutritious Easter meal to more than 11,250 members of the local community.

“Mountaire is proud to host this charitable, faith-based initiative during the Easter season,” said President Phillip Plylar. “Our employees enjoy giving back to the community and taking part in such a great event. Giving back is what this company is all about.”
