Owners Yaneth Ramiez and Delver Barrios are striving to add diversity to the food community in Lewes by opening My Esperanza, a Mexican and Latino grocery store.
Ramirez is proud of her Mexican heritage and wants to share it with others. She chose the Peddlers Village shopping center off John J. Williams Highway/Route 24 in order to add variety to the stores in the area.
Ramirez talked about the significance of exposing people to different cultures, specifically her own. As a business owner, she is able to achieve her goal and give customers a unique shopping experience with many options. Among the many items sold at My Esperanza are Jarrita’s soda, adobo seasoning, and Caprice hair products.
“I feel like I bring a little bit of my country with my products,” Ramirez said. “It is very important because our countries are beautiful and they have a lot to offer. Our country is very rich in good food.”
My Esperanza is open from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday, at 33247 Fairfield Road, Lewes.
