New Covenant son-rise on the beach services continue Aug. 9

August 6, 2020

New Covenant Church has resumed summer services at 8:30 a.m., Sundays, near the 12-foot cross on the sands of Rehoboth Beach, visible from the end of Rehoboth Avenue.

Shawn Rineholt and Pastor Robert Dekker supply the gospel music, message and prayers for the son-rise on the beach services.

“God has given us a vision to bring the beautiful opportunity of church to those who are enjoying some time at the beach,” said Dekker.

In keeping with the guidance provided by local leaders, the church delayed the start of this summer ministry until August. Organizers are mindful of concerns that many have expressed regarding health and safety. Participants at the outdoor services will practice social distancing and honor face-coving expectations. Attendees are responsible for bringing their own beach chairs or blanket.

Dekker said, “Over the many years, God has blessed us with good weather every Sunday; only once have we even experienced a few rain drops. We anticipate that he will again shine his blessing upon us. We also pray that he will blow a gentle breeze for us too, in order to create a beautiful sanctuary in which to give him praise and honor.”
