Lane closures scheduled on Route 1

Daytime lane closures previously scheduled on Route 1 northbound and southbound near Milton were delayed due to the holidays and adverse weather. Intermittent closures will occur from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday, Jan. 21, between Route 16 and Route 5 at the bridge over Deep Branch near Milton.

The closures are needed for the placement of concrete barriers in preparation for traffic lane shifts.

Once concrete barriers are in place and restriping is complete, two travel lanes will be open in both directions throughout the work zone until the project ends Wednesday, March 30, except for brief intermittent lane closures necessary for the contractor to move equipment or materials in and out of the work zone.

The project includes installation of scour- and erosion-control measures for the bridge over Deep Branch. Control measures prevent the erosion of the soil surrounding the bridge foundation to protect and extend the life of the structure.
