Lewes Annexation Subcommittee meets

The Annexation Subcommittee of the Lewes Planning Commission will meet at 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 15, at city hall and via Zoom. The group will continue discussion and review of annexation zones, the cluster ordinance and open space. A link to the meeting can be found on the agenda at lewes.civicweb.net

Lewes Parks and Rec meets Nov. 15

The Lewes Parks and Recreation Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 15, at the Rollins Community Center and via Zoom. The group will discuss possible locations for two donated metal pre-lit Christmas trees from Children’s Beach House. They will also receive a presentation on draft changes to the subdivision code. A link to the meeting can be found on the agenda at lewes.civicweb.net

Milton council to meet Nov. 15

Milton Town Council will hold a workshop meeting at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 15, at Grace Church to discuss updates to the town construction manual. The manual has not been updated since 2004, so council will meet with town staff and engineer Pennoni Associates to discuss updates to include new designs, current building codes, and federal standards and specifications. 

Milton streets committee to meet

Milton Streets, Sidewalks and Parks Committee will meet at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16, at Milton library to discuss possible expansion and cleanup of Memorial Park and Mill Park, as well as expanding park land in the future. The committee will begin review of the Milton Traffic Calming Advisory Ad Hoc Committee report, and discuss the one- to 10-year capital improvement program. Other discussion will cover possible fees for private street closings, the intersection of Route 5 and Route 16, and the replacement of street signs.

Sussex council meeting Nov. 16

Sussex County Council will meet at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16, in the county administration office, 2 The Circle, Georgetown. Included on the agenda are a housing trust fund update and a 10:30 a.m. public hearing on a proposed real estate property tax credit for disabled veterans living in Sussex County. County to present outfall proposal

Sussex County has offered Rehoboth Beach $7.6 million for the ability to tap into the city’s pipeline that feeds the ocean outfall. City commissioners first discussed the proposal Nov. 4. They were expected to discuss it further during a Nov. 8 workshop, but Mayor Stan Mills announced he had scheduled a special meeting for 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 15. The meeting agenda includes a presentation on the proposal from county representatives, questions to the county by commissioners and then commissioner discussion. The agenda also allows for citizen comment. The meeting will be conducted virtually, with an anchor location of Rehoboth Beach City Hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. People wishing to speak must email awomack@cityofrehoboth.com, at least 24 hours prior to the meeting. Rehoboth to continue building discussion

Rehoboth Beach commissioners will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 17, to continue discussing a redesign of the Rehoboth Beach Patrol/restroom facility at the Boardwalk end of Baltimore Avenue. Dewey planners set public hearing Nov. 13

The Dewey Beach Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. A public hearing will be held on a draft ordinance to expand a conditional use for the property at 1818 Coastal Highway, formerly known as Hammerheads and proposed as the restaurant Starboard Claw. Planners may possibly vote to make a recommendation on the ordinance.

Dewey audit committee to meet

The Dewey Beach Audit Committee will meet at 5 p.m., Monday, Nov. 15, at the Lifesaving Station. Members will discuss the current auditor contract with regard to its approaching expiration date and determine steps going forward for a request for proposals.
