Lewes Mayor and City Council meets May 23

Andrew Williams will be sworn in Monday, May 23, as mayor at Lewes City Hall during mayor and city council’s monthly meeting that starts at 6:30 p.m.

Williams will make appointments following the swearing-in ceremony with majority consent from city council. 

There will be presentations and possible appointments to the planning commission, historic preservation architectural review commission, and city council.

Council members will discuss and possibly vote on changes to Lewes subdivision and land development code, allocation of ARPA funds, and changes to the town’s code of conduct, among other items.

New items on the agenda include possibly scheduling a public hearing regarding the city’s purchase of 203 E. Savannah Road, vacating an easement in Angler’s Nest, and adopting an anti-bullying policy in the personnel manual.

Rehoboth’s May 23 meetings canceled

Meetings for the Rehoboth Beach Parks and Shade Tree Commission and Board of Adjustment scheduled for May 23 have been canceled.

The shade tree commission meeting was canceled due to a lack of agenda items. The board of adjustment meeting was canceled because the deadline was missed for publication of the public hearing.

Rehoboth sets three meetings May 24

Rehoboth commissioners have scheduled three special meetings for Tuesday, May 24. The first, to begin at 9 a.m., is a continued review of the city’s 2020 Comprehensive Development Plan. The second, to begin at noon, is related to the approval of the recruitment brochure and first-year goals in the hiring of a new city manager. The third, to begin at 2 p.m., is a continued review of the comprehensive development plan.
