Lewes to host special meeting, workshop

Lewes Mayor & City Council will meet at 9 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, at City Hall for a workshop and special meeting.

The agenda includes an update on the five-year review of the city’s comprehensive plan, an update from the building department on the 2021 ICC Code, and discussions on adopting a city strategic plan, designated parking at 117 and 119 Front St., and the renewal process for canal lease extensions. A presentation will be given on the budget for a playground at George H.P. Lewes BPW to hold meeting June 29

The Lewes Board of Public Works will meet at 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 29, at City Hall. The agenda includes a presentation from GHD on the condition assessment of major BPW pump stations followed by discussion. General discussions will include a proposal by Olde Town at White’s Pond to post a good faith escrow while the developers agreement is being finalized, a plan for the old power plant building on Schley Avenue, and authorizing the purchase of a line truck from TEREX for delivery in 2024.

The BPW will continue discussions on consolidating policies, the updated pole attachment agreement, strategic planning goals and objectives, and the mitigation committee.

Henlopen Acres Town Hall closed July 4

In observance of Independence Day, Henlopen Acres Town Hall, 104 Tidewaters, will be closed Monday, July 4. For more information, call 302-227-6411.

Rehoboth Beach City Hall closed July 4

In observance of Independence Day, Rehoboth Beach City Hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave., will be closed Monday, July 4. Residential trash pickup will remain on the regular schedule. Dewey approves board member

Dewey Beach commissioners unanimously approved the addition of David Vogt to the town’s board of adjustment June 17.

Hunting Club Road closed through July 7

The Delaware Department of Transportation has announced Hunting Club Road between Wilson Hill Road and Deer Forest Road will be closed through 11 a.m., Thursday, July 7.

George and Lynch will be removing and replacing a crossroad pipe.

Motorists traveling north on Hunting Club Road will be detoured west to State Forest Road, northbound to Deer Forest Road, turning right eastbound back to Hunting Club Road.

Motorists traveling south on Hunting Club Road will be detoured west to State Forest Road, turning left southbound to Wilson Hill Road, then left eastbound back to Hunting Club Road.
