Harper's Glen entrance to remain
The developer of the Harper's Glen subdivision west of Milton will not have to move the community’s entrance. At the request of applicant Insight Land Co., during a May 26 Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission meeting, commissioners voted 3-0 to remove an imposed condition to change the location of the project's access along Route 16 near the Gravel Hill Road-Isaacs Road intersection.
Commissioners were concerned about the entrance’s proximity to a nearby residence and wanted it moved to another parcel along Route 16.
Sussex County Planning & Zoning Director Jamie Whitehouse said Delaware Department of Transportation staff reviewed the proposed change and determined that the original entrance was the safest, most functional access based on future development plans across Route 16 and proximity to the intersection. The condition now states that the developer must comply with all DelDOT entrance and roadway requirements.
