No changes to speed camera should occur

February 27, 2026

There seems to have been much controversy about the speed camera installed above the Minos Conaway Road work zone. A recent letter suggested lower fines for non-work times, which seems to ignore the fact that the work zone speed limit is only 5 mph lower than the original speed limit. Even with the minimum 10 mph over the new limit before ticketing as it stands, every person who received a ticket from this camera would have been speeding anyway under the previous limit. Fifty is fast enough with the limited shoulder and consistent work occurring here.
