Notre Dame Club of Delaware honored for partnership with Little Living

March 28, 2026

The Notre Dame Club of Delaware has been named a 2026 award recipient of the University of Notre Dame Chuck and Joan Lennon Gospel of Life Initiative, recognizing the club’s commitment to serving as a force for good in the local community and upholding the value of life at all stages.

Administered by the University of Notre Dame Alumni Association, the Chuck and Joan Lennon Gospel of Life Initiative supports Notre Dame clubs that advance life-affirming values through meaningful service. The Delaware club was selected for its partnership with Little Living Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in August 2024 that creates affordable cottage communities for veterans, seniors and working families earning between 50% and 70% of the Area Median Income.

Little Living is developing Market Street Village in Georgetown, an affordable housing community designed to provide stability, dignity and long-term opportunities for vulnerable Delawareans. As part of this initiative, the Notre Dame Club of Delaware will collaborate with Little Living in the planning and development of a community garden at Market Street Village.

Notre Dame Club of Delaware President Bob Verdugo said, “The garden will feature 22 raised-bed plots, one for each participating household. Community service is a key principle of the club, and volunteer labor from club members will support construction and planting of the Market Street Village Garden designed to enhance food security, promote healthy lifestyles and strengthen community engagement.”

George Meringolo, CEO of the Little Living charity, said, “Everyone deserves a safe, stable place to live. Little Living builds sustainable cottage communities for people who work hard yet struggle to keep up with rising costs, often earning between $40,000 and $64,000 a year. Our focus is simple: dignified, attainable cottages, and our connection with the Notre Dame Club of Delaware helps us achieve this goal.”
