POWER Delaware and the Delaware Nature Society will host a symposium on Offshore Wind and the Viewshed from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, at St. Martha's Episcopal Church, 117 Maplewood St., Bethany Beach.

Registration is not required but highly appreciated; go to tinyurl.com/mwvwt8ey.

The public is invited to join a discussion among expert panelists Jeremy Firestone, University of Delaware Department of Marine Science professor; David Bidwell, University of Rhode Island Department of Marine Affairs professor; and Mike Dunmyer, US Wind’s Delaware development manager; with Charlie Garlow, Delaware Electric Vehicle Association president, as moderator.

Topics include the visual perceptions of offshore wind turbines, along with research and feedback conducted where a wind farm has been erected, and polls given to Delawareans and visitors concerning their own offshore wind prospects. The discussion will be presented alongside a series of simulations depicting what offshore wind off the Delaware coast might look like, including a virtual reality demonstration led by Chris Bason of Orsted.

The event format will include presentations from each panelist, followed by questions and answers from the audience. Attendees will be invited to fill out a short feedback form after the discussion.
