Ogre's Grove collaborates with Brimming Horn for anniversary mead

October 19, 2022

When Kristin "Aquariann" and Justin "Ogre" Sinnott decided to open Ogre's Grove in 2017, they were not expecting so many fellow business owners to reach out.

Among the welcomers were Brimming Horn Meadery founders Jon Talkington and Robert Walker Jr. Since then, the two businesses have participated in events and specials together. Now they're collaborating on a limited-edition mead to celebrate Ogre's Grove's fifth anniversary of being a local comic shop.

Aquariann chose chocolate as a flavor; Ogre chose cherry. Mead makers Talkington and Jenna Mikat did the rest. They worked their magic to create a semisweet session mead for the occasion.

Another business owner who welcomed the Sinnotts to Milton right away was Fred Giovannitti of Ink and Energy Tattooing. He drew Swamp Thing reading a comic book and drinking coffee with an Ogre's Grove mug. Ogre loved it so much that he asked Giovannitti to tattoo it on his arm. Thus Ogre turned to Giovannitti to design the can for the fifth anniversary mead. View more of Giovannitti's work at inkandenergy.com.

The celebratory mead will be released during Brimming Horn Meadery's Mead O-Ween Spooktacular, set for noon to 9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22. The party will feature the Hammer and Horns food truck, unique vendors and an adult costume contest, as well as live music from Almost Honest, Bastion's Wake, Isenmor and Wythersake.
